Trio Grande was successful from the start in the early 1990s, playing at parties and receptions as well as festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Meer Jazz Festival, Amersfoort Jazz Festival, Jazz by the Sea Domburg.
Trio Grande’s immediately recognizable sound is due to the 1919 Conn bass saxophone played by Alex de Leeuw, Rolf Koppijn’s 1931 tenor guitar and the breathtaking way Sytze van Duin’s trumpet darts around them.
Amplification is rarely necessary. The three instruments have their own acoustical balance and the players tone it down a bit for Rolf’s vocals.
But above all here are three musicians simply having fun.
The trio has released the following CD 's:
- Trio Grande, Teddy Bears's Picnic & all that jazz.
- Trio Grande, As Time Goes By ...and all that jazz.
